Do discs slip?
It’s a common phrase, but discs do not usually “slip” out of place.
The discs in your spine are strong, supportive structures that sit between the vertebrae. Sometimes they can become irritated or bulge, and this may contribute to back pain, but that does not mean your back is unstable or “out”.
For many people, understanding what is really going on can reduce fear and help them move with more confidence. With the right advice, hands-on care, and targeted exercise, back pain can often improve well.
If back pain is limiting you, our physios are here to help.

Muscle knots that just won’t let go? 😣
Dry needling might be the missing piece. 🎯
Used by trained physios, dry needling targets trigger points in tight muscles to help reduce pain, improve flexibility and get you moving more comfortably again 🙌 It is not the same as acupuncture, and it is usually most helpful when those sore muscle spots are actually reproducing your pain.
At West Lakes Physio, dry needling is used as part of a bigger picture approach because pain is rarely just about the muscle. Strength, movement, joints and nerves may all need attention too.
